About the club
Poenamo Fishing Club is a friendly, community-run fishing club based on Auckland's North Shore. Since 2006 we've been getting members out on the water, running regular competitions and celebrating the season's best catches together.
What we do
Through the year we run club competitions, a rolling fish of the trimester, and an annual contest, all finished off with a season prizegiving. It's competitive enough to keep things fun, and welcoming enough for newcomers and juniors.
Who can join
Everyone's welcome: individuals, families and juniors. You don't need your own boat or years of experience, just an interest in fishing and good company. Head to the membership page to sign up.
The name & our home
"Poenamo" comes from the old Poenamo Village Hotel on Northcote Road, the North Shore pub where the club began. That building is now Pat's Garage, and it's still the club's home base: it's where we meet, hold prizegivings, and where you can buy competition tickets.
